VNAH with technical assistance from the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education (MCIE), initiated a School-to-Work (STW) transition services model at Dong Nai School for Disabled Children.
Prior to VNAH's involvement, the Dong Nai school, which provides elementary and secondary education for 170 children with various disabilities, did not provide transition planning services to help students prepare for their post-school life. As a result, most students graduated unprepared for higher education or independent living. Many ended up in temporary, low paid jobs and/or dependent on their families. In the past, teachers made decisions for students, now they assist students to make their own decisions.
